MÉS per Mallorca manifestará su rechazo a Salas como director general de IB3 mediante el voto en blanco.
PALMA, 10 Oct.
MÉS per Mallorca, a left-wing political party in Mallorca, has announced that they will vote blank for the candidate of the Popular Party (PP) to be the next director general of IB3, Albert Salas, unless the Government guarantees that they will not use their parliamentary majority to change their proposal for the entity.
This was announced by the spokesperson of the party in the Parliament, Lluís Apesteguia, before the first vote to designate the director general, in which a three-fifths majority of the hemicycle is needed.
The representative of MÉS indicated that their party met with Salas to learn about his management model and appreciated "his commitment to maintain programming in Catalan," but the statements made by the Councilor for Presidency and Public Administrations, Antònia Maria Estarellas, made them "doubt the role of the Parliament in pressuring Salas."
For these reasons, they have announced that they will vote blank and will give themselves a month to continue the dialogue on the model because MÉS "wants a public and quality radio-television, that maintains the use of Catalan and defends the rights of its workers." They stressed that MÉS wants Salas and the PP's commitment that there will be no interference through legislative measures.
"Salas' proposal was very close to the guidelines that MÉS proposes for IB3, but there is a parliamentary majority that can use legislative initiatives to try to change this will," they pointed out.
Therefore, Salas would not obtain the three-fifths of affirmative votes for his candidacy and a second vote would have to be held within a month.
